Youth without Youth (the film review)

The fantasy drama film is based on book called „Youth without Youth“ as well written by Romanian  writer Mircea Eliade. The Youth without Youth film was directed by Francis Ford Coppola in 2007. Coppola said that he made the film as a meditation on time & on consciousness. The main character of the film is ´70 years old professor called Dominic Matei, later known like  “Martin Audricourt”  who after lightning strike becomes young again (about 40 years old).

The main idea of film is known as  summarise history.

My opinion

Idea:
I disliked the idea, because it contained lots of  depressing & sad emotions. Also, is very hard for understanding & for psyche.
When I was watching it, I didn’t feel any feelings or something what would make me cry or smile or anything except emptiness inside of me. It didn’t have any special message or meaning either. I cannot say, it told me “something more” & filled my life with something new. I think that this film had more negative mood on me. It was truly one of the movies with the worst idea what I've ever seen. Sometimes it was even gross. If someone asks me what it was about I could not really say cause it was kind of messed up. I felt that it was loosing point so I guess, that is why it was getting somehow so boring inch by inch. It had really much of negative energy & cause  it didn’t say anything special to my life so I could easily say that it was wasted time of my life, but because I am optimist I also found something positive about it.
I liked how the main character had problems with recognizing differences between reality & dream – not because of his suffering of course – for some reasons I found it interesting. I also liked as the main character was angry because he felt as he lost his life & he didn’t fill it & that was quite instructive idea especially for the young people.
But I cannot really say that it has something to the with the main idea, it was just something what I took from it as “the 2 positive pieces” of it.

Actors:

I think that actors were pretty good & I really liked Tim Roth as the main character because in my opinion he went really good with his character & he made a really good job with expressing his character.
I didn't really like the actress who played Veronica – I think that she acted good – but I don't think that her look went good along with her character & expressions.

Filming:
I think that filming was really good. I liked the effects & the was it was cut. Sometimes it was getting a tiny bit confusing through.
